Privacy policy

foodoo is a food-logging app. This policy describes what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and how to delete it. The short version: your data exists to show you your own food log. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and we don't use it to train AI models.
What we collect
- Account information. The email address and basic profile from the sign-in method you choose.
- Your food log. The entries you create: foods, amounts, nutrition values, meal times, favorites, and custom foods.
- Captures. The photos, barcodes, and notes you submit to be logged, and the answers you give to clarifying questions.
- Subscription status. Whether your account has an active Pro subscription, and usage counts against your plan's limits. We never see your payment details — Google Play handles payment.
- Health Connect data. Only if you grant permission — see the Health Connect section below.
How the AI logging works
When you submit a photo or a note, it is sent to a large-language-model provider — currently Google, and in some configurations OpenAI — through Cloudflare's AI Gateway, to be turned into food entries. These providers process your capture solely to produce the result and, per their API terms, do not use API content to train their models. We don't use your content to train anything either.
Health Connect
On Android, foodoo can connect to Health Connect if — and only if — you grant permission. It uses one data type, Nutrition, in two directions:
- Write: meals you log in foodoo are written to Health Connect so your other health apps can see them.
- Read: meals logged by other apps are read from Health Connect and stored in your foodoo food log, so your log is complete in one place.
Health Connect data is used only to maintain your food log. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone except the hosting provider that stores your food log (Convex, below). Deleting your account deletes it from our systems; you can revoke the permission at any time in Health Connect settings.
Who processes data for us
- Convex — hosts our backend and database, including your account, food log, and capture photos.
- Cloudflare — routes AI requests (AI Gateway) and serves this website.
- Google and OpenAI — the AI model providers that read your captures to produce log entries.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements.
- Google Play — distributes the app and processes payments.
Each processes data only to provide its service to us. We don't share your data with anyone else, except if required by law.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account from inside the app — Settings → Delete account — which permanently removes your account, food log, captures, photos, and custom foods from our production systems immediately. Children
foodoo is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
